The 24ft PRELUDE has been designed for family cruising as well as offshore and coastal racing. The 4 berth layout gives the maximum amount of liveable room in a craft of this size and combined with a generous headroom of 5'6" assures a comfortable and fast cruiser/racer. The Prelude hull has been designed to give good windward performance with a firm bilge and fine easy entrance as well as a generous ballast ratio to give the craft power to drive through the seas normally encountered in up wind conditions. The under cockpit floor auxiliary engine can be of diesel or petrol as the design has allowed for 400/500lbs. engine weight in this area. This ensures that as an auxiliary there is more than sufficient power to handle adverse conditions. The sail plan reflects the modern trend of a small easily handled mainsail and large overlapping headsails on a robust mast head rig.

From the racing point of view this rig is modern and up-to-date and from the family sailing point of view the minimum mainsail area allows. the main to be easily handled. The Prelude has been designed to rate within the 1/4 Ton I.O.R. Class Rules. Construction features the tried and proven double diagonal system which is the easiest method or the amateur builder. The craft is constructed from 2 skins of 1/4" ply or solid timber and could also be adapted for foam sandwich or end grain balsa using the same fullsize plans.

The plan includes fullsize frames, transom and stem, detailed construction drawings, interior layout, sail plan, rigging plan, rudder construction.
