The ECLIPSE 10.9m is a true planing hull with a medium deadrise capable of speeds up to and in excess of 30 knots depending on engine power. The extended platform with the rudder hung through the platform area, allows a moderate shaft angle thereby increasing propeller efficiency and simplifying engine installation.
The hull is constructed over conventional sawn frames with laminated stringers. The bottom is double skinned in two layers of 9mm ply and the topsides two skins of 6mm ply. The chine has a full length built in spray deflector which as well as helping to lift the hull on to a plane, keeps the topsides dry.
The plan includes two interior layouts, one of which is shown on the study print. However, the layout can be altered to suit individual requirements. The achieve a top speed of 25 knots and a cruise of 22 knots a V8 turbo Caterpillar on 11/2 to 1 reduction should be used or an engine of similar weight and h.p. The hull shape also suits I/O propulsion and twin 6 cylinder diesel outdrives with an all up weight of 2000 lbs would give speeds of 30 knots and cruise at 25 knots. The cabin structure and flying bridge have been designed to minimise wind resistance both in profile and in head wind conditions. The styling has been designed to fulfil the need for an up-to-date modern appearance which should not date.
The plan includes FULLSIZE PATTERNS of the frames, stem and transom plus full working drawings and written instructions.
