The CORTEZ is a smaller version of the popular 7.924m Topaz. This craft is a planning hull suitable for twin outboards or single I/O drive. Twin 40hp outboards will give a top speed of 34mph and a cruising speed of 28 mph. A 140hp Volvo Penta I/O drive will give a top speed of 28mph and a cruising speed of 22mph. The standard interior layout is a 4 berth with 2 bunks in the fore cabin and 2 berths back in the wheelhouse area. Construction is of sheet plywood with 2 skins of 6mm on the bottom and one layer of 9mm for the topsides with the flare laminated out of 2 skins of 4mm cut into 6" (152mm) strips and applied double di­agonally. The hull shape is deep vee forward blending into our cabin top 9mm. A special feature of the Topaz plan is the well proven gullwing after sections. The hull has very generous waterline beam which gives excellent stability and the bottom is at maximum beam at the stern. This is to give good lift for I/O and outboard power. The cabin structure has been specifically designed to minimise windage and this assists the vessel in beam wind conditions where high structures have a very adverse ef­fect on this type of vessel.

The plans include FULLSIZE PATTERNS of the frames, stem, etc. plus full working drawings of hull construction, cabin con­struction etc. plus written instructions. The plan gives metric and imperial dimensions.
