The MARLIN has been designed for game fishing and as a general cruising boat. The design features a huge cockpit area and reasonably low freeboard aft to make fish handling comparatively easy but with a high bow, generous freeboard forward and a big flare to keep the foredeck dry. The craft also features a large built in spray chine which also helps to keep the craft relatively dry under the worst of conditions. The hull configuration is of a fine entrance with a deep forefoot for a soft ride in the roughest of conditions and a medium vee stern section with a long easy run aft to ensure that the craft planes at relatively low speeds. This design has been specifically done for twin engine installation with the engines set as far out board as possible which enhances the stability of the craft and gives good access to the cabin between the engines. The engines are housed in the cockpit area which makes maintenance and servicing the engines simple. Twin 170 h.p. Yanmars will give a top speed of 23 knots and a cruise of 18/20 knots. The craft has a fuel capacity of 1000 litres and water capacity of 600 litres which should give the vessel plenty of range.

The interior layout consists of a 4 berth fore cabin with shower and head immediately behind this to starboard and hanging locker to port. The galley has been positioned amidships to port and a huge dinette to starboard in the saloon area. This area has a maximum headroom of 7ft which makes the craft particularly roomy below decks. The hull construction is sawn frames at approximately 914mm centres with heavy laminated stringers over the frames with the bottom double skinned in 2 skins of 12mm either solid timber or plywood. The topsides is skinned in 2 skins of 9mm solid timber or plywood with laminated chines and gunwales, keelson etc. The craft has been designed with sufficient stability to support a tuna tower.

The plan includes FULLSIZE TEMPLATES of the frames, stem and transom plus detailed drawings on hull construction, deck, cabin, interior etc as well as engineering layout, fuel tanks, water tanks etc. The plan is in metric and imperial measurements.
