The TRADE WINDS is a symmetric vee hull form, without centreboards. This is a larger version of the 10.36m Landfall and is designed for ocean cruising and in consequence is robust in construction. The craft is constructed over conventional frames with fore and aft stringers with watertight bulkheads fore and aft to ensure positive buoyancy. The hull is skinned in 2 layers of 6mm 5ply which ensures an extremely strong construction. The heavy laminated keels have been designed to take the rigours of grounding. The interior layout is a 9 berth and features a large spacious bridge deck area for cruising in comfort. This particular craft has a double berth cabin ahead of the saloon area with its own wash basin, shower and WC. The Trade Winds has a bridge deck clearance of 685mm and this increases when sailing to nearly 850mm because of the wave formation around the hulls. The three quarter rig has been designed to be easily handled by a small crew which with slab reefing allows the mainsail to be reduced so that the craft can be sailed in extremely heavy conditions. The Trade Winds has been designed for ocean cruising.
The plan includes FULLSIZE PATTERNS for the frames, stem and transom plus detailed drawings on setting up, hull construction, etc., plus written instructions. The plan gives metric and imperial measurements.
