The COASTER has been designed as a coastal cruising launch of semi-displacement hull form, capable of cruising easily at 10 knots with a 100 s.h.p. motor. There is 3'9" vertical height under the floor in the engine compartment so the Coaster is capable of taking large in-line 6 cylinder engines such as the Fordson, GM, Cummins etc. However, the Coaster can be driven by relatively small engines. A 60 h.p. engine will give a maximum speed of 8 knots and a cruising speed of 6 knots if this is all that is required.

The interior layout consists of a 4 berth fore cabin with a WC and shower immediately after this to starboard. There is a 2 berth cabin to port of the shower and WC, this comprises the forward internal accommodation. The saloon is large and airy and is 15'3" fore and aft and 10'6" wide. The flying bridge is optional and is constructed from 9mm plywood to keep the weight down to a minimum. The cockpit is self draining and the cockpit floor is 1'9" above the L.W.L., so positive drainage is easily obtained. Large storage hatches are provided through the cockpit floor. The cockpit is 6'11" x 10'6". The hull is constructed upside down and pivoting points and lifting arrangement are shown on the plan.
