The BULLET has been designed as a sports boat suitable for fishing, water skiing, diving etc. The hull has been designed to give good performance in rough water and if properly built to the plan this will create an exceptionally strong vessel. The construction is of two skins of sheet plywood on the bottom over fore and aft girders with the hull bottom reinforced internally with a GRP laminate. A watertight cockpit floor is applied throughout the craft which is bonded into place with fibreglass. The bottom thickness of the craft is 15mm minimum and 9mm topsides which gives an exceptionally strong hull for a vessel this small without any detrimental weight increase.
The deck design has been done to ensure that there is an adequate side deck area to prevent water entering the craft with a raised coaming around the inner edge of the deck to keep water out. The external outboard bracket also helps to keep the hull buoyant with no built in well if this version is done which is a safety factor when in rough water. The hull design is of deep vee with nearly maximum beam on the waterline aft to give good stability. The hull features our now proven centreline lifting strake or keel strake with two outer strakes each side on the bottom and a large built in spray chine. This gives a good dry ride in rough water conditions while the deep vee hull with plenty of rake on the stem gives excellent handling in both head, quarter and following seas. Although designed for outboards, this craft is the ideal shape for either jet propulsion or surface drive and there is sufficient buoyancy in the hull to take the weight of small inboard engines. A 40 h.p. outboard will give a top speed of 35 knots with one aboard and water ski speeds to 30 knots with two up. A 75 h.p. outboard, a top speed of 48 knots and ski speeds to 40 knots with two up.
