The RIO is an extended version of the Topaz with approximately 100mm more beam on the chine, slightly greater hull depth but basically the same construction throughout as the Topaz 26. The waterline beam has been increased to allow a flying bridge to be fitted with slightly reduced headroom in the saloon. With the bridge the headroom is 6ft. (1.828m) and without the bridge the headroom is 6'3" (1.905m) throughout the saloon area. This craft also features a self draining cockpit and can be powered with either twin 80 h.p. outboards up or I/Os of around the 200 h.p. either diesel or petrol. A 200 h.p. Volvo duoprop will give a top speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots. Twin 80 h.p. outboards a top speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots. Single outboards of 200/300 h.p. can be used which will give speeds up to 40 knots.
Construction is sawn frames at 3ft (914mm) centres, fore and aft stringers with 2 skins of 6mm plywood on the bottom and 2 skins of 4mm plywood on the forward topsides and 1 skin of 9mm plywood on the topsides from the flare aft. The decks and cabin are of 9mm plywood. The interior layout has two yes bunks forward with downstairs helm position forward to port and galley forward starboard in the saloon area. There are two large settee berths in the saloon and the toilet compartment is aft port. The interior layout can be altered to suit individual requirements.
The plan inclues FULLSIZE PATTERNS of the frames, stem etc. plus detailed working drawings and written instructions. The plan is in metric and imperial.
