The 36ft CHALLENGER has been designed for sports fishing and pleasure cruising and is ideally suited for most of the medium power diesel engines such as the V6GM, 150 or 180 h.p. Fords; V8 Caterpilar V8 Cummings, 6 cylinder Perkins to name a few. A motor such as a 180 h.p. Ford with 2 to 1 reduction will give a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots providing that the weight is kept to the designer's specifications.
The craft is constructed from 2 skins of plywood over conventional frames and stringers and is ideally suited for both professional and amateur construction. This craft features our latest design thoughts and has been specifically designed to drive easily with the minimum of power so that the cruising range can be extended on the minimum fuel consumption. The interior layout can be varied to suit owner's requirements, but our suggestions are shown above.
The plan includes FULLSIZE PATTERNS of the frames, stem, rims and transom plus detailed construction drawings.
